Renovation of the Świecie
Town Square

Revitalization of the city of Świecie. Creation of a tourist, recreational,
and economic center through renewal, improvement of functionality,
and proper development of the downtown area.

Scope

PAVEMENT WORK

  • Comprehensive revitalization of two city squares
  • and the adjacent streets within the central area
of the 19th-century downtown.
  • Laying of granite block sidewalks covering an area
of nearly 3,000 m², granite slab sidewalks covering nearly 5,000 m², and roadways paved with Parisian granite cobblestones covering nearly 7,000 m².

INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Modernization of the gas network, telecommunications, stormwater drainage, lighting, and power connections.

FINISHING WORKS

  • Construction of a unique fountain in the form of two basins, complemented by lighting and water effects.
  • Installation of a modern public toilet in the Small Market Square.
  • Installation of surveillance cameras for the City Guard.
  • Planting of greenery and provision of small architectural elements such as benches and trash bins.

CHALLANGES AND INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

The revitalization works lasted nearly 2 years and were conducted under archaeological supervision and the regional conservator of monuments – the Small and Large Market Square area is located in conservation protection zone A. The work required precision
and accuracy. Parisian cobblestones were laid and jointed with cement mortar.
All works were carried out using stone materials, incorporating the existing stone-concrete slabs in the Large Market Square.
